Antipolo City

The city was named after the tipolo (breadfruit) tree (Artocarpus incisa), which was in abundance in the area. Trees with broad leaves that provide shade while gently fanning in the soothing breeze.

The city is popular for being a pilgrimage site. It prides itself as the “Pilgrimage Capital of the Philippines. It is the home of the more than 100-year old Nuestra Senora della Paz y Buen Viaje (Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage)

Antipolo was converted from municipality into a component city of Rizal Province on April 4, 1998.
